It is an honor to have the time to introduce myself to you. My name is Seung Woo, Lee, Founder of the Cheong Kyum Association. I have been a part of Hapkido—the traditional and historical Korean martial art—for a very long time. I am here in order to further promote Hapkido as an inherited Korean martial art passed down trough our history; and, I also very much want to assert the need for the further development of Hapkido in its proper traditional form. It worries me to see the present day change in attitude in regard to Hapkido; I see a lack of respect and understanding for the art and history of Hapkido, as well as a lack of propriety and seriousness toward this martial art among many of its masters and teachers. The true essence of the martial arts way can not be mastered instantly, but must be slowly and gradually experienced through life-long dedication and study. We must work hard to attain the insight to penetrate our true inner selves. Therefore, to be a great master of the martial arts, it is necessary for us to find a way to obtain the true meaning of the martial arts way in our real lives. The Cheong Kyum Associaciation is an organization of young masters of Hapkido, established on these very important beliefs. We will do our best to be the bridge between our generation and the next, fulfilling the demand of our time. Thank you.
My name is Suk-Hwan, Choi, Grand Master of the Cheong Kyum Association. Nowadays, it is crucial for us to find ways to develop Hapkido´s potential through the Internet, since we are living in a time where life is based on wireless technology.
In order to satisfy the demands of the 21st century, Cheong Kyum Association is promoting a cultural project on the Internet in the hopes of joining Hapkido and other martial arts and by doing so will promote the training activity in the Dojang to an international level through cyberspace.
At present, we are developing programs destined to offer both the necessary knowledge of Hapkido and the education that accompanies it for people worldwide without the obstacles derived from cultural differences. Because people have demonstrated a lot of enthusiasm in our international seminars and exhibitions abroad, as well as here in Korea, all of that demonstrates that the world market for Hapkido is very positive and has a bright future.
Our current concern is to find a fast way to place Hapkido in the world-wide market. We hope that this website can be the solution to this problem. We sincerely believe that our current project, regarding professional formation of hapkido teachers as well as our efforts to integrate the cultures of the world through Hapkido.
These efforts will yield succesful results in the near future corresponding to the functioning of our web site and the way in which we promote the system. We request your continued support and cooperation abroad in Korea, and within the Cheon Kyum Association. Thanks,
C.K. Choi Suk-HwanGrand Master
Greetings, I am Chief Master William Rayo and as director of Cheong Kyum Association (CKA) for America I wish to extend to you a warm welcome to our organization, which I hope will bring you answers to your inquiries and any needs you currently have.
Many people question the future of Martial Arts and particularly Hapkido, they say values within have been lost, and that morality and organization are being lost too.
I understand the concern surrounding such issues regarding Hapkido, but I do not share this pessimistic point of view.
Hapkido in América is undergoing a process of deep change, just as many other things in our society. Evolution and progress always take some things away… in order to create new ones. This is why the CKA seeks to project itself as a high level institution while positioning our organization as a Hapkido training center not just locally but internationally as well.
My commitment towards Hapkido as CKA America’s director is absolute. Precisely this has lead me to direct all efforts towards the consolidation of the organization, that simultaneously maintain high technical standards, something that has differentiated us internationally.
I derive satisfaction from sharing our knowledge and making it available at each and every one of the branches that integrate CKA in América,
I also wish to reinforce my commitment to the delivery of knowledge, training and education, under the guidance of very well trained teachers and masters who have a teaching calling that will ensure that you receive everything that you expect during your learning process within our organization.
We must be thankful in life, specially with those who have lent us a hand; those who understand how tough the labor of disseminating martial arts, specially HAPKIDO is SERIOUS and seeks to be RELENTLESS, which is why I thank you for your visit and opinions shared on this site.
Well, I bid you farewell, hoping to have instilled in you a liking for our organization, asking you to visit us again and spread our information to your families and friends, so that more people can appreciate what is happening with Hapkido, specially in America.
Kind greetings for all who love this beautiful martial art, regardless of where you are, or what language you speak.
